Buster (Rebecca Smart) has a high fever, the result of a bad cold caught while out on the road in the rain, and she’s in danger of dying. Lily (Noni Hazlehurst) thinks she should be in hospital but Mac (Bryan Brown) is determined to sweat it out of her and works through the night to save his daughter.
Curator’s notes
This is the moment when Mac begins to understand about the selfless love of another. It’s an amazing moment that could so easily have become mawkish but for the superb acting of Bryan Brown and Noni Hazlehurst and the wonderful Rebecca Smart. There’s probably not a dry eye in the house as Mac speaks to her through the medium of Gooby, her stuffed toy.
