Clip description

There’s a truck parked on the side of the road and Mac (Bryan Brown) rushes to grab them a lift. It turns out to be the recently widowed Lily (Noni Hazlehurst), the love of Mac’s life, and she brings him up to date with the fact that she’s now looking after the farm alone because her father is dying of cancer.

Curator’s notes

The love of Mac’s life is just as stubborn and just as ornery as he is. Noni Hazlehurst is a wonderful actor and has gone on to play a string of 'put upon’ wives and mothers, Little Fish (2006) being perhaps the best known of these in recent times. For many years after she was a star of Playschool, Noni was co-presenter with her then husband, John Jarratt, on the Channel Seven program Better Homes And Gardens. These days she’s in much demand on stage and screen in Australia.
