Clip description
Miller (Richard Wilson) watches as his new neighbours arrive in Jonathan Archer’s (David Roberts) truck. Reaching their destination, the Wild Spring Animal Clinic, Aggie (Jade Ewen) is amazed and excited while Reilly (Douglas Smith) is far from impressed with his new home. Particularly when he is asked to assist his aunt, Ellen Archer (Genevieve Hegney) the vet, in the rectal examination of a constipated dog.
Curator’s notes
Walking his bike up the hill, Miller’s reaction makes it clear that that something big is taking place in Wollemi. As well as providing a rich contrast between the characters of Reilly and Aggie in their very different attitudes to their new home, this segment sets up the main location for the series – the Wild Spring Veterinary Clinic. This practice – and the animal emergencies that take place in it – make up a large part of the series’s drama. The town of Wollemi, which in the program is set about a day’s drive from Sydney, means the program is able to feature domestic, farm and native bush animals.
