Clip description
Opening titles are followed by a scene set in the police station as Drazic (Callan Mulvey) is interrogated by Detective Sergeant Steel (John McNeill) and Constable Todd Gillespie (Dominic Purcell). The fact that Todd used to go out with Drazic’s girlfriend Anita (Lara Cox) complicates matters. Drazic refuses to ‘grass’ to clear himself of charges of being in possession of stolen goods.
Curator’s notes
The opening titles sequence sets up the main characters who appear in the series including laid-back bad boy Drazic, basketballer Dennis, pool-playing Marco, and ‘Goth’ Tess. The opening scene establishes the main drama of the episode: Drazic’s dilemma of whether to act against his long-held philosophy of never talking to the police, even if it is the only way to protect himself. The situation is further complicated by the triangle between Drazic, lovelorn Constable Todd and Anita.
This clip features an early TV appearance by Dominic Purcell. Purcell later moved to the US where he’s appeared regularly on TV and film including a starring role in Prison Break (2005–09). After starring in action series Rush (2008–11) and the mini-series Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms (2012), Callan Mulvey has also made the move to Hollywood, appearing in Zero Dark Thirty (2012) and 300: Rise of an Empire (2013).
