Clip description

Drazic (Callan Mulvey) goes voluntarily into the police station for a chat with Todd (Dominic Purcell). When pushed by Tess (Katherine Hicks), Dennis (Putu Winchester) finally confesses to having caused Zac (Luke Jacobz) distress by manipulating the séance for ‘a bit of a joke’. Meanwhile tensions run high in the final stage of the lawn bowls championship. Marco (Danny Raco) wants to take a risk whereas his bowls partner Headmaster Carson (John Gregg) insists he ‘play the percentages’.

Curator’s notes

This segment sets up a series of tensions and questions to be resolved as the episode continues to unfold.

Executive producer Ben Gannon, in an interview on the Heartbreak High website, comments on the conflict between maintaining the realism of the school environment versus story opportunities:

You’re always stretching reality. I think that’s what makes it interesting. We used to say that our show was a kind of heightened reality, so that the audience has to go on the ride. If the audience isn’t buying into the reality of your show, you’re stuffed. Once they’ve bought into it, you can start to push out at the edges.
