Clip description
Running down sand dunes, the mother (voiced by Sigrid Thornton) arrives at the sea’s edge and ponders a dead seagull. A huge wave sweeps her out to sea; she struggles against the tide, swimming, but goes down.
Curator’s notes
The protagonist’s panic brings on a vision of a hungry shark, which she bravely resists, concentrating instead on saving herself from the depths of the sea and her fears. Though imagination plays a big part in the film, it is action which saves her life.
