Clip description

This actuality footage from 1899 begins with a shot of commuters on a railway platform approaching an incoming train. A man holds a folded newspaper, while one woman carries a parasol. The clip cuts to the view from the back of the moving train after it has passed under an overhead bridge and is pulling into the station.

Curator’s notes

Wills’s innovative 'train cam’ moving viewpoint was new to Australia when this film was made. He also employed the same technique in Scrub from Back of Train (1899), shot from the rear car of a train passing through Eumundi, near Nambour in Queensland.
