clip 'They're always wild to begin with'

Clip description

Having rescued a sick crocodile hunter (Pierre Cressoy), the patrol continues into the Western Highlands, to the place that 'Sharkeye’ Kelly has named 'Paradise Valley’. McAllister (Chips Rafferty) announces his intention to contact the villagers – his first obligation as representative of the colonial administration – despite Kelly’s misgivings.

Curator’s notes

Great scenes of a patrol en route, with police 'boys’ in the lead and carriers behind, hauling heavy loads. Chips Rafferty gives a potted description of his patrol officer’s duty. Sharkeye hasn’t told them that the wounds that killed his brother came from a fight with the village below (on the earlier, illegal patrol, which found the oil). He’s leading them into a difficult situation.
