Joe (Aden Young) crashes his car in a drag race against Paul Secchi (Arthur Angel). He finds work in a supermarket managed by Mr Graham (Tommy Dysart) and catches sight of Savina (Tara Morice) for the first time.
Curator’s notes
Metal Skin uses non-linear narrative editing to create tension and excitement. The lead-up to Joe’s race with Paul is dramatically intercut with footage of the speeding cars. This sequence from the first few minutes of the film tells us a lot about Joe. He is a troubled misfit, and he is attracted to the mysterious Savina at first sight.
