Clip description
Zef (voiced by Jono Wood) and his little elephant brother Tutu (voiced by Emily Hunt) laughingly recount their latest adventures with playmate zebras while cooling off in a waterhole. The narrators, a pair of cheetahs (voiced by Len Firth and Dorinda Hafner), introduce the audience to the brothers and their golden days before the arrival of ‘The Badness’.
Curator’s notes
This sequence provides our first introduction to playful young elephants Zef and little brother Tutu, and to their carefree life in ‘the biggest backyard in the world’ – the wild plains of Africa. The narrators act as storytellers throughout the film, describing the action and providing insight into the emotional life of the protagonists.
The multinational nature of the production is reflected in the voices of the characters. While the narrators’ accents are African, Zef and Tutu sound American and the rest of the jungle inhabitants are a diverse mix with English, Scottish and other voices represented.
