Yindi goes exploring

Original classification rating: not rated. This clip chosen to be G

Clip description

After overcoming an earlier threat to his survival from a car accident, Yindi the koala emerges from his mother’s pouch. He starts to explore the world, unaware that a new threat to his safety is just around the corner.

Curator’s notes

Having emerged from his mother’s pouch, Yindi gets down to the serious business of showing us just how cute he can be, supported in his efforts by a light acoustic soundtrack. As Yindi chases the camera, Greg Grainger’s voice-over weaves his actions into a larger narrative about Yindi’s life in the wild. This is an example of the program’s docu-drama style. Yindi: The Last Koala? uses the voice-over narrative with a range of koala footage to re-enact Yindi’s life, including the moments before he came into human contact.
