Clip description
Third and final contestant Kristin takes the hot seat and answers three multiple choice questions on her way to a possible one million dollars.
Curator’s notes
Calm and capable Kristin answers a series of questions painlessly and without having to resort to any of her available ‘lifelines’. The questions are designed to get more difficult as they go, and Kristin seems to be just warming up, answering all three questions quickly and correctly before a hooter signals the show has run out of time.
Host Eddie McGuire tries to slow things down a bit and add a little tension by asking Kristin if she wants to use a lifeline for question two (when she is clearly confident about her answer). If asking her to repeat her response to question three is an attempt to sow a seed of doubt in her mind, it doesn’t work and Kristin continues to answer correctly and with confidence.
Kristin seems disappointed to be interrupted by the end of the show. Having her continue the next day not only teases the audience into coming back to see how she will fare but also puts a halt to her winning momentum, potentially making it harder for her to pick up where she left off.
