Clip description

When Shane (Shane Dundas) opens the Stuff Closet, David (David Collins) falls in. Shane follows and they both emerge in the Art Museum (the Art Gallery of NSW). They search for a suitable spot for Shane’s picture and finally find a fridge on which to hang it. The masterpiece is admired by Mrs Foil (Amanda Bishop), the young boy who taught them how to finger paint earlier in the Museum of Finger Painting and the Schmuzzies.

Curator’s notes

The disembodied Voice acts as knowing narrator in the series. Shane and David look at, interact with and even become artworks themselves in a fast-motion montage which plays with concepts of time and space. This irreverent high-speed exploration of an art space serves to demystify and make comfortable the experience of visiting a gallery in the real world. Shane and David even find a fridge on which to hang the picture!

The audience continues to be invited to be directly involved and to participate in the program in a variety of ways. When the duo returns to the familiar world of their home, as they do at the end of every episode, they speak directly to the audience. In this episode they offer imaginary paints, in wonderful imaginative descriptive words and colours, directly to the audience through the screen.
