Tracey has created a life-like Shamus hologram but unfortunately it disintegrates when Shamus high fives it. Shamus is quite devastated until they discover that the explosion has brought about dozens of miniature Shamuses.
Curator’s notes
This amusing scenario is pretty typical of Tracey’s crazy experiments that don’t work out quite the way she intended. As usual the ‘mistake’ is more interesting. Shamus’s grief at losing ‘himself’ is an intriguing underlying theme, hinting at complex questions about identity that will mostly go over the heads of a young audience.
