Clip description
Kylie Mole (Mary-Anne Fahey) talks about her essay on the Church of England.
Curator’s notes
Mary-Anne Fahey’s grotesque schoolgirl Kylie parodies the slang and preoccupations of late ‘80s high-school kids. In a way that brings to mind the more recent Kath and Kim (2002–07), Fahey makes a running joke out of Kylie’s jumbled cultural references and word mix-ups.
Also like Kath and Kim, Kylie became a cultural phenomenon, her catch-phrases such as ‘I go, I go, I just go…’ and ‘so excellent’ entering the popular lexicon for a time.
