Curator’s notes
Here we meet the villain of the piece, the buffoonish and pompous Arktos whose evil antics always end in disaster. His helpers are not very appreciative of his ‘talents’ but they get to work using a clever range of snow cannons – simple technical devices to shoot snow and ice onto the sunny meadow below. This fun and visually rich scene is an example of the simplicity and strength of this series, and its intellectual appeal to young children.
