Mike (Zbych Trofimiuk) changes the readings on Shane’s (Che Broadbent) SETI project to trick him, then watches gleefully when Shane and Nikki (Petra Jared) think the radio telescope has picked up amazing radio signals. Tony Masters (Steve Jacobs) warns them that they must check their findings and validate their data before they report it to the International Astronomical Union.
Curator’s notes
This is a good example of how interesting science information has carefully been incorporated into these scripts. Tony’s emphasis on the importance of scientists validating their data is backed up by his reference to the famous Piltdown Man, one of the most famous frauds in the history of science.
