Clip description
Pugwall (Jason Torrens) is desperate to find a girl singer for the Orange Organics, but the pool to choose from is pretty small. There’s Daniella (Marcela Toro) from the milk bar, an assertive, feisty character who thinks she’s Tina Turner but can’t sing, his annoying little sister Marmaloid, and then there’s Jenny (Rebecca Blomberg) whose only experience is in the church choir. Pugwall finally gives in and asks Jenny to audition.
Curator’s notes
The band’s music was a feature of the series at the time. In this clip Jenny joins the band and remains one of the leads for the rest of the series. Like all performance scenes, the audition immediately changes to a slick stage performance. The kids are costumed up and it looks and sounds like the real thing.
