At the end of their journey, Agnes (Melanie Boomer) and Ada (Christen Cornell) find an old baby crib and a box in a cave, In the box is a letter from Justus Zuckermann (Owen Weingott) in which he explains how Agnes is his stolen baby daughter. Ada is delighted to have a sister and the girls set off home together.
Curator’s notes
This final scene wraps up the story in a rather hurried manner leaving many questions unanswered on a first viewing. The now wild and frenzied Martha leaves the story in a dramatic flourish of red flames and fog.
