Agnes (Melanie Boomer) the young maid is grumpy about the hard work she has to do while Ada (Christen Cornell) sleeps on in her warm bed. Martha (Judith Stratford) the housekeeper behaves very strangely, giving Ada the creeps.
Curator’s notes
The close-up of the snail and then Martha’s eye is great fun. The juxtaposition of the serene, obsessively clean and coldly beautiful Martha, with her disturbing actions, is well done but it is so melodramatic that it becomes more funny than frightening.
