clip 'One long whack in the goolies'

Original classification rating: G. This clip chosen to be G

Clip description

Lockie (Sean Keenan) decides that life is just ‘one long whack in the goolies’ as he lies on the beach recovering and meets Egg (Clarence John Ryan) for the first time. He then ‘rewinds’ to introduce his family: Sarge (Rhys Muldoon), Joy (Briony Williams), Philip (Corey McKernan) and baby ‘Blob’ (Georgina Schober) as they arrive in Angelus.

Curator’s notes

Lockie, lying on the sand as he tries to recover from injuries and Egg’s bad jokes, shares his thoughts on his depressing second day in his new home town. He then rewinds the story to the family’s arrival. His father’s endless optimism is contrasted with the rest of the family’s trepidation and their reluctance to move. Lockie’s power to shift the narrative in time to selected moments and events provides further insight into Lockie’s life and story.
