Dr Raymond Good (Brian Nankervis) operates on the hospital’s chief administrator (Peter Green) after his mysterious ‘accident’, unaware that his assistant in the operating theatre, Matron Dorothy Conniving-Bitch (Lynda Gibson), caused the accident and wants the administrator dead.

Over-the-top operating theatre antics are a fixture on this medical soap opera spoof. Plenty of fun is had with fake blood and guts and absurd props. There are traces of the series’s improvisational origins as doctors use whatever tools they can get their hands on to operate. Nankervis and Gibson revel in their over-the-top roles – Gibson’s evil matron has qualities of a pantomime villain.

The freeze and transition to a comic book still to precede an ad break is a motif of the show and further announces its play with ‘pulp’ elements.
