Clip description

While Ted (Ross Higgins) and son-in-law Bruno (Lex Marinos) argue over the value of Australian inventions, Thelma (Judi Farr) responds to an unexpected ring on the doorbell.

Curator’s notes

An episode of Kingswood Country wouldn’t be complete without Ted uttering his catch-phrase 'not the Kingswood!’ – though in later seasons, when Holden phased out the Kingswood model, Ted replaced his car with a Commodore. Bruno acts as a foil for Ted, highlighting his comic flaws, racism and parochialism. On the flipside, Ted’s wife Thel is ever-supportive.

This sequence shows Kingswood Country’s standard scene punctuation – a freeze-frame and theme music – flourishes that help give the show a classic sitcom feel.
