Getting into the swing of things

Original classification rating: G. This clip chosen to be G

Clip description

In this episode, seen here in full, Hoota and Snoz discover a double swing set. Snoz jumps straight on and swings happily. Seeing how much fun Snoz is having, Hoota angrily swings so high he launches into outer space. The laws of gravity soon prevail and Snoz, along with the audience, anticipates a great fall.

Curator’s notes

The two characters are clearly distinguished, even without dialogue, through their different reactions to a familiar object – in this case a swing set. This episode typically features minimum props against a nondescript background as a setting for character-based slapstick action.

In this scenario Hoota is projected into space before experiencing his downfall, enjoyed all the more because it is expected by the audience. There is also joy in seeing exactly how the ongoing rivalry between Hoota and Snoz will be played out in each episode. Also typical of the series is the exaggerated sound effects, music and expressive vocalisations.
