Clip description

Otto (Mark Mitchell) invites Lady Townes (Anna Galvin) and the family to a barbeque and she politely agrees. Otto complains to Conrad that because Sir Claude Townes stole his family’s lucky opal they are now poor.

Seeing Conrad through the window, Penelope (Alexandra Milman) asks Mossie (Monica Maughan) if she’s too young for him, but when Mossie looks out, she can only see Otto and is appalled. Bruce (Rhys Muldoon) and Baz (Glenn Meldrum) remember how awful life was for them when the opal was owned by the von Meisters. After the uncouth Otto walks past, they determine that they will do everything possible to stop the opal returning to him.

Curator’s notes

These set ups are typical examples of the clever visual humour and farce characterising this series.
