Clip description

Eric Bana insists that he doesn’t feel obliged to return to make films in Australia, he simply follows good projects, like the Australian gem The Nugget which he returned for after filming The Hulk in Hollywood in 2003.

Curator’s notes

This is a very short clip (32 seconds) from an episode of The Movie Show with actor Eric Bana, whose star was on the rise in Hollywood at the time after appearing in Troy (2004). He is interviewed dressed casually in an empty cinema and we don’t get to hear the question he’s been asked or who it is that is interviewing him. But none of this matters. What matters is the point Bana is making which he does forcefully and thankfully without interruption.

He punctuates the discussion by referring to a 2002 low-budget, small Australian comedy called The Nugget. Helpfully, scenes from the film are included in this clip. This is a good example of filming interviews as simply as possible, allowing the interviewee to be the centre of attention.
