Clip description

Rupert Murdoch, now in his 70s, is ruthless, attractive and charismatic. His sister, Janet, recalls their years of growing up at Cruden Farm where Rupert and his three sisters spent an idyllic childhood. Through her memories and the accompanying archival family footage, we see Rupert’s character emerge.

Curator’s notes

A fascinating window into the world of Rupert and his three sisters during their privileged upbringing. Janet has a critical assessment of her brother that’s all the more interesting as she muses about what might have been had she been born a boy! Director Tim Clark successfully marries the family archive of photos and footage with Janet’s interview so that we are immediately transported to those long ago days of an idyllic Australian childhood.
