Clip description

A young Yeshiva student, Jack, and the East End fishmonger Morrie Mendellsohn (Bob Hoskins) have left the camp and walked into town. They savour an illicit ice cream and discover that there’s no train until Friday. Since they have no idea what day it is, they return to the camp.

One of the few internees unable to find fulfilment through intellectual pursuits is Morrie (Bob Hoskins), the London fishmonger from the East End who’s been picked up as an enemy alien in the hysteria of the times, possibly because his name is Mendellsohn.
