Curator’s notes
The series is at its best when it is in the moment with the choir members. This scene closes the episode and, in part because we have spent time with the process of recording and getting to know some of the singers, the simple process of listening becomes invested with meaning, emotion and drama.
As the camera pans the faces of choir members we see happiness, surprise and pride reflected back. There are hugs, slaps on the back and tears. Jonathan, of course, shares in this and again we are reminded just how important the project is to everyone involved. It is a moving scene and reminds the viewer of how much potential the room holds.
