Each state makes its own contribution to the efforts of the Red Cross. Queensland supplies ambulance cars; South Australia puts on emergency procedure demonstrations; Tasmania gives financial contributions; Victoria reclaims unwanted materials; NSW converts a house into a home for convalescing troops; and WA perfects the quick assembly of mobile dressing stations.
Recovering servicemen convalesce in a hospital supported by Red Cross funds and staffed by volunteers. Supplies including food conveyors, X-ray machines, refrigerators, bedside lockers, and dressing gowns make the servicemen’s recovery more comfortable.
