Clip description

This segment illustrates the rights and wrongs of addressing a business letter.

Curator’s notes

In this clip we see the first of many guises and characters (in this case, magician and assistant) assumed by Jon Finlayson and Rhonda Finlayson throughout the film. Here they speak directly to their audience about the typical mistakes made when addressing and preparing letters for posting. Brother and sister, Jon Finlayson and Rhonda Finlayson were both prominent Melbourne actors. In 1973 Fred Schepisi and Rhonda Finlayson were married. Jon and Rhonda (who went on to become a casting director), along with their brother Bruce, a costume designer, worked with Fred Schepisi on a number of his features, including The Devil’s Playground, The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith and Evil Angels.
