Clip description
In a flashback dramatisation, a police trooper arrives at the camp looking for the light-skinned child of the white man, but her mother hides her in the sugar bag.
Curator’s notes
This clip shows the pressure young children and their families lived under during the Western Australian government’s policy of removing Aboriginal children with white parentage from their Aboriginal family.
The dramatised flashback is intercut with Laurel Cooper, now 70, recalling these events from her childhood.
