Curator’s notes
The innocence and lightheartedness of the earlier sequence gives way to one of uneasiness as the girl walks down an alleyway past prostitutes in doorways on her way to the music shop. The background chorus also contains a note of warning as she accompanies the cabaret owner down a darkened staircase and into his club where he tempts her with a piano.
