Clip description
After forming a musical trio with the local greengrocer, Mr and Mrs Flynn decide to advertise for another musician. Voice-over narration is by Ruth Cracknell.
Curator’s notes
This clip combines a variety of images and techniques. Line drawings for the narrative sequences are interspersed with photographic images of composers and town buildings, whilst abstract images animated by Nicole Punt, Lucinda Clutterbuck, Elisa Argenzo and Suzanne White accompany the musical sequences played by the Carl Pini Quartet. Undulating, scratched lines on a black background provide a fitting accompaniment to Mrs Flynn’s first attempts at playing the violin.
