Curator’s notes
This scene is a classic example of the style of many of the short fantasy films made by Pathé Freres in the first decade of the twentieth century. Matching up with a moral or fairy tale, the transformation of animals, insects or flowers into beautiful, and sometimes vengeful dancing girls, is one of the most familiar features of these films.
