This Australasian Gazette newsreel special shows highlights of the 1924 Melbourne Cup including the horses entering the racetrack, crowd, the showground, grandstand and the race which was won by Backwood.

This Australasian Gazette special from 1924 shows us a montage of highlights from the 1924 Melbourne Cup, one of Australia’s premiere sporting and leisure events. Wide shots taken from one of the grandstands are linked with intertitles which give a sense of the event as a whole.
