This clip shows the rocky seaside village on the Greek island of Kythera where the Gerakiteys family are from. It contains scenes of daily life including villagers and family members walking towards and waving to the camera; a man drawing water from a well; elderly relatives; and the island landscape.
Curator’s notes
It is unclear just who of the villagers are family and who are friends or simply local community members, but all of them display a warmness and friendliness that Gerakiteys’ camera captures well. That the footage is in colour and in good condition is of additional value.
