Clip description
Children perform dances at a garden party while adults look on. This includes children performing ballet and three children dressed in Japanese kimonos. The camera pans across the garden to film party guests relaxing around a marquee.
Curator’s notes
This clip was filmed with a hand-held camera. The reliance on natural light results in some of the scenes being under-exposed and people appearing as silhouettes. The clip appears jerky and slightly sped up. This is because it was filmed at 16 frames per second. When projected back at a frame-rate above 16 frames per second, the image appears in fast motion.
