Clip description

The clip begins with a scene at the front of the White Rose Flour Mill building on Bulwara Road, Ultimo. People walk by. A truck and car are shown driving down the street and people talking outside the building. John Ernest Archibald pulls up out the front in his car. He is shown having a conversation at the Mill’s entrance and then inspecting a loaf of bread.

Curator’s notes

The Archibalds were a successful business family who had interests in the milling industry in Queensland and New South Wales. John Ernest Archibald had interests in the White Rose Flour Mill seen here in this clip. He was the son of John Archibald MP, who started the first flour mill in Queensland. The family also recorded a White Rose Flour Mill picnic in Archibald Family: Noorong Gazette: Parts XXI – XXIV.
