Les Darcy (who enters from the right of frame) and George Chip are in the final rounds of what was to be Darcy’s final bout. By this stage in the match, Darcy has the upper hand. The referee for the match is Arthur Scott.

Curator’s notes

The camera captures the event square-on to the ring and pans slightly to follow the flow of the action. At the time this footage was filmed, Sydney Stadium at Rushcutters Bay had a covered roof. When it first became a sporting venue in 1908, the boxing ring was in an open-air stadium with crowds squashing into a walled-off area (see Boxing 1908: Johnson vs Burns (1908)).
