Clip description

This clip shows highlights from the seventh round between African American boxer Jack Johnson and Canadian Tommy Burns. The camera films the action from an elevated position just above Burns’s corner of the ring and pans to follow the movement of the fight. The fight’s referee and promoter, Hugh McIntosh, also moves around the ring. At the end of the round, the boxers retreat to their respective corners and are fanned with towels by their aides. A man down on the ground outside the ring holds a large numbered card to the crowd signalling the coming of the eighth round.
