Henry Warburton (Peter Coyote) baptises Ort (Jamie Croft) and his mother, Alice (Lisa Harrow). Tegwyn (Amanda Douge) refuses to accept Henry’s brand of faith and salvation.
Curator’s notes
Henry Warburton is a self–appointed preacher without a parish. In this scene he brings Ort and Alice into his personal church by performing baptisms. By now, Ort looks upon Henry as a father figure and the ritual gives Alice a feeling of hope. Hiding her attraction to the stranger, Tegwyn remains cynical. There are no visitors at the Flack house after Henry’s arrival. The family’s world is insular, revolving more and more around the stranger.
