Tegwyn (Amanda Douge) asks her mother, Alice (Lisa Harrow), why her paralysed father, Sam (Mark Fairall), has been brought home. Ort (Jamie Croft) answers a knock at the door. It is Henry Warburton (Peter Coyote), who says he has come to help Sam.
Curator’s notes
Tegwyn resents having to care for her doddering grandmother and can’t stand looking at her father in his current state. An imposing figure at the doorway, Henry arrives when the family is crumbling under the pressure. Almost at her wit’s end, Alice allows Henry inside. Seemingly arriving from nowhere yet knowing everyone’s name and that Sam needs help, Henry is charismatic and carries the air of a saviour about him. The strong backlight and muted lighting on Henry’s face enhance his mystique.
