Clip description
When Abigail Kirk (Imogen Annesley) touches ‘the little fairy girl’, Beatie Bow (Mouche Phillips), it sets off a reaction that sends them both back in time 100 years. With Beatie the only link to her former life, Abigail chases after her, only to be knocked down in the street by a crazed man. Judah Bow (Peter Phelps) is the first person she sees when she wakes up in a strange bed. Dovey (Nikki Coghill) and Granny (Moya O’Sullivan) seem to have been expecting her.
Curator’s notes
The shot of the church indicates the time period (1870s or 1980s), depending on whether or not the Sydney Harbour Bridge is visible in the background. It is a crude but effective trick. Abigail appears in almost every scene of the film and portraying her would have demanded considerable skill. Imogen Annesley, making her film debut, generally handles the role well and succeeds in creating a likeable character.
