Clip description
Anna (Saskia Post) is dressed up for a job interview. Her boyfriend Sam (Michael Hutchence) asks if she’s coming to watch his band.
Curator’s notes
The playful relationship of Sam and Anna is shown in this amusing clip. Sam goofs off in the bath while Anna talks about her job interview. Like a child, Sam just wants Anna to bring him airline food if she’s successful. In true punk style, the bathroom is decorated with empty soup and pet food tins. The décor reflects the Iggy Pop song line that appears at the head of the film: ‘We’re livin’ on dog food, so what?’.
We’re Livin’ on Dog Food was also the name of a 2009 documentary by Dogs in Space director Richard Lowenstein about the Melbourne underground music scene of this period (1977-81).
