Clip description

Johnny (Richard Roxburgh) asks Alexandra (Agnieszka Perepeczko) to forget the past and start over.

Curator’s notes

Like a washed-up boxer who believes he can stage a comeback and win the title, Johnny is a dreamer who wants to recapture the love he and Alexandra once shared. In his poetic and persuasive plea, Johnny uses metaphors to describe a place in which the pain of the past has been buried and their love can flourish. Cinematographer Jane Castle has filmed this scene beautifully. Johnny and Alexandra are bathed in a soft amber glow suggesting romance and nostalgia.
