Clip description

Julia’s new friend Eddie (John Brumpton) takes her down the road to buy her an ice cream. The lady serving calls Julia (Heather Rose) ‘poor little thing’ to Eddie and charges him $6, at which Julia types into her voice machine the words ‘Fuck me!’ and then drops her ice cream on the floor. Eddie and Julia leave the store in giggles.

Curator’s notes

A lovely scene that shows the film is determined to inject some fun into the proceedings. It also demonstrates how feisty and cheeky Julia can be when she’s being talked about as if she’s not there. We see that she is far from just a passive victim but is determined to be recognised and has a wicked sense of humour.
