Sitting outside, Owen (Stuart Clark) shows Chris (Richard Green) the drug ‘ice’ and aggressively urges him to try it. Chris refuses and buries his face in his hands in despair but Owen is insistent, telling him that prostitutes love it. He pulls him to his feet and frogmarches him into the house.
Curator’s notes
This scene depicts a highly dramatic and tense confrontation. Chris’s rigid determination to remain free of drugs and out of trouble has come up against an immovable force in Owen. This is the first time the viewer sees Owen acting violently. He’s so belligerent that we sense he is capable of anything.
