clip Night storm hits

Original classification rating: MA. This clip chosen to be PG

Clip description

Grace (Diana Glenn) and Lee (Maeve Dermody) can see Adam’s (Andy Rodoreda) body floating in the water and tearfully say goodbye to him. The day of terror then turns into night, and a tropical storm sweeps in. The sisters complain of thirst and comfort each other with tales of their childhood. The crocodile prowls around below them. They hear noises and, with horror, discover it is the crocodile eating Adam.

Curator’s notes

Ensuring a film is visually cinematic is particularly challenging for filmmakers who are forced, because of financial or other considerations, to limit the number of locations used. Most of this film is set in and around one tree surrounded by water. Quiet, contemplative scenes of the gloomy area are used to punctuate the film’s suspenseful tone and the unease of the characters, but it is this night-time scene that is noticeable for its visual difference. It is eerie and suggests both the passage of time and the dark fears of the subconscious.
