Curator’s notes
Frank Djara had an active and healthy life and, as a man with a strong work ethic, he was employed to look after men’s health. Frank tells his story quite simply, but the essence of what he is talking about is a very important issue within Indigenous communities nationwide. Frank chooses to share that he once had a very active life and was a good worker, which eventually led him to health work. It is a subtle storytelling style that Frank uses, and the filmmakers allow it to unfold, touching on the deeper issues when necessary, but giving time to contextualise the information through Frank’s account.
